not dunking on Flying 'cause it's obviously great, but Ghost has LITERALLY A SINGLE type resisting it, and another immune to it
for comparison, both Electric and Ground have two types resisting it and an another immune to it
get a fighting immunity, a fake out immunity, and a trapping immunity on top of that and Ghost is pretty fucking busted

Type has no synergy with any other types besides water and it can't stand on it's own. Even with the fast mons like Weavile, Jynx or slush snow gimmick mons, they aren't very good

That's the kind of funny thing about terastalizing, it doesn't really make the ice-type any better, but it gives ice-type pokemon a bit boost. On the other hand, the gimmick doesn't really make fairy-type pokemon any worse, but it does lower the power of the fairy-type since any pokemon that had a bad matchup can just avoid it.

confusingly GF chose to buff the type by making it neutral on Steel and to nerf individual ghost-type pokemon instead (aegislash gettings kings shield and its stats nerfed, gengar losing levitate, sableye's prankster being nerfed to buff dark type pokemon which is so niche of an interaction that it is impossible to remember, etc.) There's other things they do with new Ghost-types to hobble them, like making Decidueye a slow shitmon or not giving Dragapult Poltergeist because it would be extremely fucking busted

Bug is fine defensively, the problem has always been that it’s worthless offensively thanks to Fairy, over 1/3 of all those resist it. Grass is just as bad offensively but at least better distributed powerful moves like Solarbeam, Leaf Storm, Wood Hammer, and a terrain that powers them up. Bug’s best move is Megahorn which is only 85% accurate and most bugs don’t even get it.

Powerful moves means jackshit when the type is resisted by 7 types. Also solarbeam needs to be paired with the weather that powers up one of grass weaknesses to be usable and wood hammer has pretty shit distribution. You also forget to include that while bug has no high BP moves it does have stab on the best (formerly best I guess because GF can't not make water more OP than it already is) pivot move.

Pre-gen 5, and by extension pre-gen 6 Dragon is fucking great. Both Water and it were equal defensively (2 weaknesses/4 resistances) and equal of a different flavor offensively. (3 SE/3 Resist vs 1 SE/1 Resist, still arguably making Dragon the more spammable one in general)
Admittedly, though, rain gives an edge to Water. And particularly in gen 5 where Toed was a thing and Water was fucking broken.
But past this, the hype of Scald stayed in gens 6, 7, and 8. And I'd say that's because the move itself is a gigantic meme for being a general click cookie-cutter regardless of it being unimpressive in comparison to an actually bullshit two-in-one move like Scale Shot.
Like, if you let me chose between a guaranteed (50%) boost to speed and a 30% chance to halve one of my opponent's two offensive stat (meaning it matters half the time, for essentially 15% true effect)
Well duh, the choice is pretty easy, even factoring the reduced defense.
Speed setup has always been good, but being able to compress it together with decent damage is really not appreciated enough in contrast to what OP says.

It has decent BP for a high chance to inflict a permanent status that makes physical mons useless and negates leftovers with residual damage. There is one type that is immune to that status but guess what, it's weak to the type of that move so you never consider it.
In practice, scald make defensive mons immune to a physical wallbreaker switchin in on them since there is the threat of scald which is huge for them.
In practice, if a dragon uses scale shot they can still be walled granted that they didn't boost their attack before. Also scales shot doesn't have a distribution as good as scald.

I don't know what the OP's image is, but flying is a very good type in vgc because of max airstream, immunity to ground (max quake is very popular together with max steelspike), and having good moves that are resisted by steel only (rock mons are basically unheard of in vgc).

Many don't get U-turn either. If you are physical you pray you get Leech Life or First Impression. Fell Stinger would work in theory but bad distribution and the Bugs with it are too slow to abuse it or can't slot it in.

Flying at least gets Brave Bird. Ghost has straight up the worst moves in the game, Shadow Ball is very weak for being the standard STAB attack (80 BP vs 90 like Flamethrower, Ice Beam, most other standard special moves), Hex is too limited in usefulness, and Poltergeist has bad distribution, low accuracy, and relies on items. Shadow Punch and Shadow Claw aren't even worth mentioning.

Moonblast is almost as good as EQ and its biggest problem is it's almost exclusively learned by Fairy types, while EQ is learned by TM and has no drawbacks

The only things wrong I see on that anon are assuming that Aqua Tail has a secondary effect, but maybe it's a typo due to the coma after the statement, and the Headlong Rush being also available for Torterra... despite being cut on Gen9.
Bulldoze is indeed awful due to hitting ally, and yes, if you watch the VGC2022 vods you will see every Groudon running Rock Tomb to lower speed. Earth Power is only used by Heatran for coverage rather than being used for STAB, needs more viable Ground mons to pull that out, and the best you have for it is Nidoking with its base 85 SpA despite its good ability. Scorching sands is pretty good but most stallmons lack a slot for it, which kinda sucks.
Drillrun has no competent use outside MAX Quake it for coverage like Golisopod did in VGC.

It's mediocre, it is only the best when coupled with Fairy, otherwise, it is plain awful both offensively and defensively on official formats. Lacks variety when it comes to moves and you will be hitting allies most of the time, and the only viable thing outside Max Quake is Precipice Blades Groudon, and even then the low accuracy hurts it a lot. Groudon can't even use bulldose effectively for speed control due to hitting allies and Flying-types being always present in Gen8 due to STAB Max Airstream plus its speed boost, so it has to resort on Rock Tomb and its shit accuracy.

Steel ain't a bad offensive type, tho. Bisharp and Scizor are prime examples of this, especially the latter with Bullet Punch. Fairy types also often get access to Fighting-type moves like Superpower, Focus Blast or Aura Sphere when it comes to coverage.

I think Fairy was a good type to introduce to be stronger than Dragon, but it feels kind of useless otherwise, imo. It has some good attacks but not enough to warrant a whole new typing.

But it's good that Poison gets another typing that's weak against it kek

steel is a bad offensive typing and pre-fairy it was only good for stab and bullet punch priority. scizor especially made good use of both of these since it had technician for a stab 60 bp bullet punch. now though it's actually useful for taking down fairies as a niche which is more garbage design by gamefreak since one of steel's intended downsides was it was really bad offensively in exchange for it's huge defensive ability.

With the Introduction of Fairies, Fighting is rather weak to it while the former resists it, which is the opposite case of Steel. The lack of HA Steel types is still an issue, tho. Despite Gen8's most broken (and most used) attacking move being Steel.

When it was created, it was given resistances/immunities to the 3 most common offensive types, its sem-exclusive move Moonblast is the 2nd most spammable drawback-free move in the game, and the only types SE aginst it are Poison/Steel, defensive types with heavily resisted attacks.
In a word, Fairy upsets the entire typechart by being very diffcult to handle using offensive Pokemon.

Make moonblast 90 power with 10-20% drop chance instead of 95/30

Also nerf dazzling gleam, no other type has such a powerful spread move with no drawback and 100 accuracy. Overdrive is Toxtricity only, surf hits all pokemon, hypervoice has an awful spread and type etc.
