>>51907029>Not the anon you're replying to, but as someone who was forced to study more literature than they wanted to, most characters in every book we read are damn self-inserts. I know that argument always comes up, which is why I mentioned it in the scope of the fandom. In fact, one of my favorite characters is actually an OC introduced through a doujinshi who got ascended into the canon. She fit in so well with the outrageousness of the setting as it is and made a good rival character.
Likewise, obvious self-inserts in canon make me cringe, and I tend to avoid those things when it's set up to where we're supposed to appreciate them, lest you hurt the creator's fee-fees.
>>51907029>Agreed on that, but it's hard to put stuff out there if people think by default it's cringe because of all the oc-donut-steels produced by autists in the ages.I won't lie about that. I'm just here to thirst over Steven and his friends; not tell them they're so brave for posting their OC in this hostile Vietnamese Wreath-Making Board.
>>51907264We used to have an OC thread here in /vp/. That might be why it isn't around anymore.
