>>51843974Nymphs are Greek mythology creatures, minor nature deities who frolic in forests and are depicted as young, beautiful, naked women, with several sub-types like dryads. Later, renaissance culture conflated them to be fairy creatures because of the similarity.
Nymphs are EXTREMELY feminine but not lustful as far as I'm aware. (Greeks liked to pretend women were never horny...) Rather, nymphs inspired lust in men via their beauty. In Greek mythology they are constantly pursued by satyrs, those half-human guys with the goat legs. It was observed that goats tend to be horny, gluttonous, prideful, belligerent etc animals so satyrs were violent, drunk, rude, horny-as-fuck little assholes who REALLY wanted to fuck nymphs. (Usually failing.) Technically satyromania is supposed to describe a horny man and nymphomania is for slutty/flirtatious women, but our language has forgotten about this and "nymphomaniac" now means anyone who is a sex addict or pervert. Someone with super high libido.
Btw if you ever wondered why the classical depiction of a devil/demon is a humanoid with horns and hooves, it's because the idea of satyrs gradually morphed into them. Goats are one of Satan's favorite animals because they seem to embody all the Deadly Sins as mentioned above. (Also goats have freaky sideways pupils that makes them look scary.)
Anyway, it's a little odd they decided to name Sylveon Nymphia in Japanese but I believe the intent is that nymphs are a type of "fairy" that is extremely feminine. Nothing more. Sylveon was first revealed on Valentine's Day, it's clearly supposed to be a girly little cuddlemuffin.
