I mean, I never expected Goh to catch Mew anyway, as I figured he and the others would either end up having to save Mew from someone/something, or Goh would realize (after witnessing something) that some Pokemon are best left uncaught because of the role they play in nature/the world.
I just wasn't real clear on what Ash's victory had to do with it, but thanks for the explanation.
