Is this the first gen where all the 3 starters are misses? they all fucking suck, each gen had at the very least one saving grace.

As a series ages its designs trend towards greater complexity. But also towards mass appeal and ease of use like animation. The starters now have jobs because it seems to work, easily animated, and allows for the concept of starter to encompass more complexity.
