None of them deserved it, whether or not you like them. Things can be fixed/adjusted, but that's not in the current Pokémon game design philosophy. They are more than capable of modifying things like base stats, but it rarely happens when its actually needed. I've only seen it happen with Alakazam and Aegislash. But instead, the power creep persists as new Pokémon blow the old ones out of the water functionality-wise

Wrong. A lot of them are abominations with no redeeming qualities. Zero tears shed over smeargle, who deserved it the most. Even some “Good” Pokémon like Ferrothorn deserved it for its crimes against the metagames. Plus, these are pixels on a screen, so why would anyone care about them showing up every game.

Considering how much you resent them, obviously you care. Dex cuts are not a balancing thing. The fact that they've never made a dedicated custom rule creator is the problem. And that's on top of making stat adjustments to Pokémon. Pokémon being put into tiers is spoken word, but not an actual in-game function where players can set up formats with their own desired limitations. The solution to not allowing Ferrothorn in competitive shouldn't be not allowing it to be playable from the entire game. In trying to solve one issue, you bring up many others. Some people like to use these Pokémon for funsies, against the AI, for repeated playthroughs, etc. Oh, but because it's a scourge to VGC, it's GOT to go! Why do we vehemently hate these creatures we're supposed to love? That's the hypocrisy of these newer games

Flabebe's line is in SV. Alolan Geodude, Alolan Ratata, still quite a few gen 5 ones from the starters that are not Oshawott, Patrat, the elemental monkeys, Blitzle, Meloetta, Furfrou, Minior. idk if I missed any, but this is basically the current "not usable in gen 9 even when Spring 2023 comes along" list. Everything else is either trapped in HOME or you have to use older games to use. Little Timmy isn't going to be happy to have gotten all those legends from Dynamax Adventures just to be denied entry

they'll have to eventually hit the quality ceiling and won't have any excuse to not make them all usable in the latest title again, especially considering they struggle to make the games perform properly with the current models and textures. Like, it really seems too easy for these games to be pushed to stress limits. Like, the game drops frames like a Dynasty Warriors game just from having 10 NPCs on the screen at once (maybe even less). But it's going to take time for that day to come. We're basically banking on TPC to pull their heads out of their asses to not rush art onto the shelves for the holidays

because Watchog is catchable in the wild in X/Y. Not the first time stuff like that has happened. Gen 7 had a few Pokémon you needed to breed for dex entries, like Geodude as Graveler was the only one in the line to be caught in the wild.

I don't see that as a bad thing as it can incentivize players to learn what breeding is. And gen 6 was this kinda-sorta sweet spot where a lot of foreign/non-native Pokémon were circulated as breedjects through wonder trade. I managed to get every starter with hidden abilities that way. But now that scope has been significantly narrowed because every game is a box where the only things you can find are within the regional dex, made worse with no in-game GTS as that really helped a lot with trade evos and version exclusives. So many good things just rolled back and then an inferior version is locked behind a $16 subscription where some of these creatures are stuck with no use once they get put in the cloud boxes

which is dumb considering even Swooshi had a Battle Tower, but it was somehow even worse than ever because there were no restrictions and the super format was removed entirely. And BDSP offered an inferior version of the Battle Tree. Like, they keep going backwards in microscopic doses and now they finally just said "fuck it, it's gone." What's there to do when all of the singleplayer quests are done? Shiny hunt and raids? Even post-launch Swooshi had more. What reason will there be to revisit these games long after they're not supported? Those reasons have been thinning out around the 3DS era, but became way more evident in the Switch era

I'm kinda impressed with what they did with Charizard. They Swooshi'd again, except now you can't even use the other Kanto starters. Like, I get why other generations' starters are treated similarly (because of Legends Arceus), but Charizard just straight up plucked. Can't even transfer the other two even when HOME becomes compatible until whenever the fuck. Doing it on purpose at this point

I don't mind them not adding in all the pokemon, I just wish they made more new pokemon in each game to compensate. Like we should be getting 100+ new pokemon (without counting regional/convergent/paradox pokemon as new mons).
