They should just have BSS as a competitive format as well in the tours. I don't mind VGC being part of official tours, but if they push singles so hard in the games, I find no excuse for BSS to not be a playable format in those tours.

From now on wild battles are all single but trainer battles are all double aside from your first rival battle. Catching tutorial after that gets you your second pokemon. Trainers refuse to fight you if you don't face two available Pokemon

Difference is that switch mode and healing items are largely just a game mechanic abstraction. Meanwhile singles is more or less what the entire Pokemon media franchise is based around. That's what the mainline games are focused on, that's what 90% of the anime and manga battles are, even spinoffs and random little bits of merchandising like t-shirts or toys will reference single battles and never doubles.

It'd be like if the official competitive mode for Call of Duty was knives only and you weren't allowed to use guns. It's absurd. It's no wonder why more people play BSS or Smogon than VGC. And I don't even dislike doubles, but if GF and TPC want more than a small minority of people to play them they should actually design the games and the rest of the media and marketing around them to feature doubles.

GF doesn't care about "official tournaments". That's a TPC thing and it includes other games as well. No one thinks POGO or the TCG is designed around their official tournaments. Only an extremely small minority (less than .01%) even plays competitive doubles. The 3v3 ranking ladder is just as popular as the doubles one.

thats how it was designed back in 1998 yes but its the year 2022. mainline pokemon is now largely designed and played as a single-player RPG with the occasional bits of multiplayer engagement, very different from something like CoD. look at the nintendo store description for SV, it doesn't even mention the multiplayer aspects.
