The thing here is that the perception of Pokémon as animal characters is very strong. Not only from the source material itself but also from the reception to it. For the people here trying to bring up aliens that's not how the series conceptualizes Pokémon. Pokémon, by admittance from people who have worked on the series and even the man who created the series, are conceptualized as being fantasy animals and pets and that's how the series treats most Pokémon, there isn't any distinction made between types or bodyshape and in turn this fuels the reception to Pokémon.
For example in one of the latest videos released about Pokephilia, Furrymon, there is a line that goes like this:
>Animal or not? The line gets blurry This video is 5k short of a million view on YouTube and has over 2 million views on TikTok, for such a niche subject those are pretty exceptional numbers.
The meme with Batman and Joker and a Lopunny has Batman calling Pokémon animals.

These may be memes but they clearly reflect a real viewpoint people have towards Pokémon and as I alluded earlier this is something the series itself promotes. I firmly believe this viewpoint highly influences the reception towards Pokémon not only in the NSFW sphere but also how people are receptive to Pokémon designs.
In short the series is very keen in promoting Pokémon to be perceived in certain ways which in turn highly influence how people see Pokémon which is made manifest in the few examples of many I have shown.
