With outbreaks and sandwiches there is no excuse to do this on mons that spawn in the wild. Even if you're a Violetfag you should be pairing up with a Scarletfag to hunt it instead.

Anons who is your go-to kidnapper in SV? I have been using false swipe on my Purple Megaman but it ain’t great. I want to train up a dedicated pokemon abductor. Yeah I could just quickball everything but I don’t want everything in quickballs. What’s your ideal catcher? In the past, I have used tanky things that can put them to sleep and use false swipe.

Grab a Shroomish, prevent it evolving until it learns spore at level 40, then evolve it into Breloom and teach it False Swipe. Then you've got Spore, Stun Spore, False Swipe and possibly Effect Spore as an ability. Back it up with mons who know Sing/Hypnotize and Thunder Wave in case you're trying to capture grass types.

It regularly takes that long to get a crit cap. Those happen very very rarely, sometimes you can go hundreds of throws without seeing one.

You can forget moves and free up a spot. Then you hold the mirror herb and picnic with something that knows the move you want (fuecoco maybe?) and the skeledirge will learn it automagically.

So does anyone else have fuckin terrible luck with the shiny charm? I had like 15 shinies before getting it, many of which I barely even tried for. After getting it, I've found one, and that was with a lot of effort.

I'm not saying the charm is actively hurting my odds or anything, but my luck has been pretty shit since getting it.

Sweet. I only wanted one but that's just cool. I slapped an ability patch on the female and gave it stored power and calm mind, it's fairly tanky. I may get rid of Draining Kiss and replace it with Psychic Terrain and Leftovers, Draining Kiss hasn't worked so well for me yet.

I've always had a soft spot for Volcarona. The fact that it was initially set up in the OW at the end of a dungeon like a legendary really caught my attention. As for Slither Wing, that one image with it standing up while holding a blanket and teddy bear won me over. So you get them from the higher ranked raids, which can be solo'd from what I've heard (I haven't been able to personally, but I've mainly been using my normal team), but it can be a pain in the ass. That said, with how janked the online raids are, it's still a pain to get herbs either way.

A lot of people have different kinds of autism in these threads, whether it be balltism, or like OTtism, etc. but god damn, mine is definitely hating people whose first instinct is to save the moment they see a shiny. They've made it so piss poor easy to "hunt" in these last couple games (PLA, SV) that it doesn't even feel like a genuine hunt anymore. Sandwiches combined with despawn/respawn "mechanic" all but guarantee that you get it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think hunts should take months and months, 5, 10, 20k encounters and shit but at least make it a little challenging. Granted they did step it up a bit by removing the sparkle animation from the overworld and the god awful sound cue from PLA but the rates in which you can find shinies with all the bullshit you can use to help you, it's just doesn't give off that same level of serotonin anymore.

Save, breed a bunch of eggs, if you don't get the shiny just reset and breed a bunch again. Since eggs' traits are made upon their generation you'll consistently get different offspring, meaning you don't have to go through the torture of releasing a box and a half of mons one at a time to Masuda Method.

I mean, for the sandwiches I'd say that 100% understandable since the herbs are such a pain to get. Only time I make an exception is if I get a shiny that I REALLY wanted, and even then I usually reset until I get a second shiny with it.

Yeah if I don't get the pokemon I wanted, I tend to reset. The only exception is if I get 2-3 other shinnies outside of what I wanted, and even then it has to be something I don't already have for the most part.

Basically I'm collecting shinnies for my living dex, so as long as I get a net gain, I'm happy.

Just in case you weren't aware yet, encounter rate affects mass outbreak spawns. If you're going for raremons like eevee and its lutions, this will help immensely

Standing in an area with the pokemon you want to see in a mass outbreak increases the chances of it being in a mass outbreak (especially when you're time traveling
You can further boost the odds by time traveling with encounter power lv of the type of the pokemon you want up as you do it.
He also illustrated how annoying it is to do Eevee mass outbreaks

i'm still skeptical on the whole "standing in a specific area influences what outbreaks spawn". i've done it a few times and while i have seen new outbreaks, other times i've reset 40+ times without a new one in that area.

I've never seen Lokix, Espathra or Umbreon outbreaks and by using the method I saw all three in Alfornada. It depends on the area, since it uses that area's encounter table to improve the odds of certain pokemon.

it's definitely finicky, i have managed to get a charcadet outbreak from doing it but a few days ago, i was trying for klawf and couldn't get it. like i was standing on a tile that shows in the dex habitat thing and when i zoomed in, it showed klawf as one of the mons that regularly spawns in that exact area, but nadda.

Late because asleep, but herba mystica is a possible reward from 5* and 6* raids, which unlock after finishing the main story and finishing the post-game respectively. They are very rare in 5*s but do exist, and my experience with raids is that a properly selected hyper trained, EV trained pokemon used to solo the high difficulty raids is easier than grouping with others because when the NPCs faint because of poor matchups they don't cost you timer.That lets you buff up and then slaughter.
