I really like the friend and speed balls, but I'm not autistic enough to go through the trouble of getting them in the modern games. Fuck whoever thought it was a good idea in Gamefreak to keep the apricorn balls scarce.

I also used to use dusk balls for efficiency, but I've stopped using them since I think they're the ugliest design.

pokeballs for dex filler, ultra balls for battlers, premier balls for eevees/evolutions, master ball used to be for the one game legendary but games have like 40 legendaries now so i now just use ultra balls, one (1) luxury ball for my top favorite pokemon (assuming not dexcut, the bastards), great balls get sold to the pokemart, love/heal/pinkwhatever balls used on any major antagonist pokemon, everything else i don't use

What balls are the most fitting for Kingambit and Volcarona? I was thinking of Luxury Ball and the Sport Ball due to the former matching Kingambit's color scheme and the Sport Ball being strongly associated with bug pokemon but I would like to hear second opinions.

I would personally use Repeat ball for Kinggambit. It has roughly the same colors, but the most noticeable color on Repeat is red, same as Kinggambit. Only problem is the yellow is not as gold, but it still fits more imo.

Fast or Moon for Volcarona. Fast thematically bc of its speed. Moon works better aesthetically. Best for Kingambit are Heavy and Moon.

Any ball for standard pokemon I have no intention on keeping and am just wonder trading. Usually whatever regular ball I throw first.

Usually sell Poke, Great, and Ultra when I have a couple dozen from picking up sparkling spots.

Favorite is premier ball. I have 700 of them now. Glad they finally put a method in to get it other than buying bulk regular pokeballs. Usually use it for 4* - 5* Tera raids and any regular pokemon I'm keeping for my living dex.

Beast ball I find ugly so I use it for shitmons from 1*-3* raids I'm trading away (I have around 100 duped rn and I give them away as held items while trading). I also caught Charizard in one because he's an ugly shitmon too.

Luxury ball is for 6* raids and shinies. The textures on it are fantastic this gen.

Dream ball for my Chansey. I like the pink mist.

Love ball for any pokemon that'll fit the heart motif (like Tinkaton)

I keep around 30 of the others on hand for in the moment color matching but rarely use them.

This. Outside of apriball fuckery Dive Ball is top tier especially on anything ice. Luxury Ball is good for generic strong shit you get from raids. Net/Premier are also quality.

Any time I breed for a specific Pokémon, shiny or otherwise, I always just go for the ball that fits it best color- or theme-wise. Back in SwSh I bred a regular Bewear in a Love Ball and went back and bred a shiny in a Fast Ball.

It really depends on the situation. I tend to use a variety of reasons for what ball I would choose, most of the time its color scheme. But then some cave pokemon just seem cooler in dusk balls, where most rock pokemon seem made for heavy balls. However, you are correct that the core of the entire thing is moderate to severe autism.

I use Net Ball for Crustaceans, Dive Ball for Fish and whales, and Lure Ball for Marine Reptiles.

Specifically because it's colors are similar to the totodile line.

Those aren't really comparable, they have real and measurable gameplay effects and removing the tedium with QoL items lowers the barrier for competitive entry. The balls are purely aesthetic after you've caught the pokemon so if it ever gets added it will be when I'm in a retirement home and it will be dropped from the next game anyway. I just want to replace the red top shell with different colors for my different type pokemon, is that a crime?

It costs upwards of three dollars to pay for an artist to recolor the texture of a pokeball and that's three dollars they could be not spending on any of the massive flaws which have been in the games for generations like shitty framerates and ugly fucking models. Like it or not, any change will be miniscule and one step forward two steps back because we keep buying them.
