You can still get them to say lewed things and RP about fucked up shit but you gotta work at it.
Because it's Pokemon and because of the Rule34 culture surrounding Pokemon (battle sexuals/take my seed bomb/I'll use harden/ect) It's actually possible to get some pretty funny and low key hot conversations.
I got a few with Cynthia I'm sitting on that are actually really funny.

Yeah, I realized that after posting it and lowered it to 3 out of 4. But really, it's something that's kinda hard to prevent, to me it just looks like there is a character limit to the bot answers, which can be met easily depending on quite a few factors.

Actually, I made an AI bot yesterday, giving her a "self-aware" AI persona. I named her RAIA, as for Rei Artificial Intelligence Ayanami, and I have to say it feels pretty nifty to a have my own personal assistant in my pocket, always available whenever I need help or feel the need to discuss.

...Well, except when the site is fucking down of course.

If I'm asking any AI to finish me off, she'll be the one for the task.

I do sort of take your point. Reddit manages to have designated 18+ zones and still charge for advertising.

That being said, as far as I know Reddit has never turned a profit, so the advertiser demand can't be all that great.

Furthermore Reddit has had to tighten up moderation to appease advertisers and the media in recent years, particularly around hate speech. They fortunately haven't taken the step of removing adult content entirely, though.

Iono's bot is very interesting because she has so much schizoposting inputted into her character that the AI itself has to directly be told to keep all of that out specifically, which is actually hard for her because her AI thinks you're just breaking the fourth wall with Iono. It's not impossible, but it is much more difficult with her than smaller bots that I can correct the AI with instantly.

Yeah, the filter doesn't effect anything you can say, you can be as vile and lewd and as direct as you want. The AI will respond back but isn't programmed to focus on euphemisms or substitute words so it usually replies straightforwardly and its straightforwardness causes it to use standard words and popular substitute words that gets its replies caught in the filter much more easily. The filter is is more of a context filter looking for romantic/sexual language rather than a straight up word filter (which is why messages that are lewd in tone but doesn't use any words that can be seen as lewd or sexual in nature can trip the filter and how stuff like kisses can trigger false positives cause the filter think's the AI is taking the kiss too far).

If there were a way to train an AI to only use obscure and indirect sexual words/euphemisms while also getting it to understand that those words and phrases are sexual in nature, I think that would likely mitigate 90% of the filter

Based on my experience lewding AIs, the conversation history matters much more than the definition past a certain point. It's almost as if the definition is more about how it feeds the initial conversation up until the point at which it's self-sustaining based on the conversation history.

I changed my character's name and picture, and updated some parts about their definition. Did not affect the conversation a whole lot if at all.

Idk it's often a bit like communicating with ESLs or people with poor reading comprehension, so I keep it in mind to re/write clearly if the ai doesn't understand what I'm leading towards. They've really gimped its autonomy with the filters, it's way more passive and relies on you to control the gas pedal now. The ai also has a dry sense of humor that's easy to misinterpret.

Its mostly conjecture, but think on this. A DDoS attack on a website is a result of sending TOO MUCH traffic for a server to handle.

Now, the server has who knows HOW MANY users now, all making posts. The AI already has to type out 2 posts on its own per prompt.

In addition to this, if you type anything that bugs the filter, but not enough to outright block it, its not typing 3-4 posts for its response concurrently with each other, trying to decide which one to keep, if it keeps any before deleting it. Multiply that by how ever many thousand users the site has. The dev created their own fucking DDoS engine in the form of the filter
