Everything good about Legend of Thunder clearly came about from being a TV Special. I don't think these characters would hold up much better than Ash over as many episodes as these series go.

From what we see, they all went their seperate ways soon after Violet City iirc, so a anime based off them would have one of them be the protag in different episodes.

Also, it was a loss that the guy who beat Harrison was a random who and not Jimmy or that Marina didn't pear I the Kanto Grand Festival.
