Both are retarded and clueless, because a business takes into account many more variables to determine what will sell or what is better recognized by future customers. If you only looked at the numbers you'd think Diamond and Pearl and Sword and Shield are really excellent games everyone loved and the path to follow for the future.
However they must also consider the impact of the month of release, the advertisement investment and size of market, the health of the economic cycle at the moment of release, how long each game is on the market before becoming obsolete by its replacement, how large is the playerbase of the system, the average attach rate and the demographic composition of the system, the current popularity of the competition both in software genre and hardware system, and a whole lot of other metrics that go over the head of dumb anons
