It's just fucking rough, your options are Masquerain with Defiant running rampant and barely any use for hazards in VGC, Lokix which is cool and does a truckload of damage but needs Banded First Impression and momentum switching (which won't do well in doubles). Defensively you have Foretress which I like, but gets fucked by any stray ember and Rabsca for spdef (which I haven't tried). You can make it work on singles, but definitely not in doubles.
For instance in mono-types doing well, I just fucked a Armarouge, Garchomp, Annihilape and Corviknight guy.
I used Klefki (turn 1 reflect then died to armor cannon), Hattrene (turn 1 Trick Room into Life Dew), Dachsbun (came in klefki's slot) and had Sylveon in the back.
Armarouge was choiced into Armor Cannon, from what I could tell, and the dude went for my Dachsbun (didn't know about the ability) probably thinking that a 65~70% Hat would survive based on bulk alone. After that I tera'd the doggo into Steel and Garchomp was doing 10~15% with Earthquakes before he went to sleep. Had the Hat on cleric duty and the +2 doggo swept. Took like 3% off a Corvi body press while Steel type and 2-shot it.
