Assuming that a "route" has the typical length and complexity of a major character in a visual novel, the idea that a small team of indie devs could pull this off is as insane as it is pathetic. Just for comparison, how many story routes are in a big-budget game with hundreds of pros working on it full-time, like say, Mass Effect? Nevermind all the coding and art assets, just WRITING 29 full routes in the same game and having them be remotely appealing, coherent, and playable is just a laughable idea. Good riddance to this chicanery, I'm glad I didn't know about it until well after it was abandoned.
