Sometimes I feel that I'm just trying to force my childhood memories back to life and I dont actually enjoy Pokemon that much anymore.

The S&M era was pretty nice, the anime was the best season so far and the game was comfy. But the new anime doesnt do anything for me.
Sold all my cards too.

First, I just wanted to say you're based for questioning yourself and if you grew up too much rather than blaming the games/troons/TPCi/whoever your boogeyman of choice is.

Second.. yeah, that happens. Sometimes you just grow out of something and stop feeling the same connection. It happens, that's life. You don't have to force yourself to keep playing the same games or franchise - if you still like the monster catching genre or competitive aspect, there's probably other similar games for you to try.

If you simply don't enjoy Pokémon's concepts, you don't have to play it anymore. That doesn't mean you have to give up on it - you can just leave your 3DS and SM carts in a corner, and come back to the franchise some day when you feel like having a nostalgia trip or if for some reason you feel like playing again.

You can step away from a game, an activity, or an hobby without having to fully give it up forever. You don't have to keep playing a game, doing an activity or partaking into an hobby if you don't feel like it anymore.

What matters is that you have fun. If you keep playing them by habit without any fun, it's perfectly fine and healthy to take a step back from them, even if it's only temporary.

I often feel like crying when I watch Pokemon because the episodes feature cute emotional scenes, but that's it.

I haven't watched the anime in a long time. I watched it all through XY&Z but I couldn't get into the SM anime. I think I quit Sun about 1/3 through as well, and didn't buy any games after that. From then on I basically just kept an eye on the new stuff out of curiosity, and fapped to the porn. But I recently started playing Radical Red and I'm enjoying it though.

Im the opposite. I love the concept of pokemon but never enjoyed the games. They're too boring, slow and grindy for me. The most i ever engaged with them was watching my brother play them as a kid. The franchise has huge potential, but Nintendo will never make anything other than kiddy shit with 0 depth lore and story wise and barely any difference in game play. Every mainline game is basically the same thing, even after what like 30 years? I unironically wish some of the dumb edgy fanfiction-esque ideas people come up with could become a reality because then I actually might enjoy the franchise, but alas.

I still enjoy the older ones, but I've pretty much given up on any new games. If I want a new one, I get it secondhand. It won't matter since nearly every Pokemon game since XY has set some kind of sales record, but I'd rather buy games from devs that don't stick to failing upward.

Try something new if you haven't. I got back into Pokemon after playing some Pixelmon with friends and re-reading PokéSpe with /a/. Maybe try a romhack like >>52929265 suggests, Radical Red is great. Giving it a bit of a break could work as well.

You'd be an idiot to believe that you "grew out" of a series because it's for kids only. Some games are just bad. I don't believe I grew out of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Mario, Kirby or dark souls, because these games are good. Now, what happened with fallout? That I Definitely got tired of, and I don't believe being a kid when I played it and growing up has anything to do with that

This is also my reason why I care less to this series nowadays.
Despite I prefer the gen 3-5 games for their better gameplay, in the last years I realized to be a Genwunner. The thing that I loved the most about this series was the feeling of doing a journey in a urban-fantasy world that's really similar to ours but there are a lot of bizarre creatures with magical power that you can catch and train and I believe that the first gen (and its sequel) executed this concept the best. Even since gen 2 you can see that GF created the new Pokémon around the console limitations.
I like how gen 3 and 4 tried to use the remaining ideas related to the original Pokémon version of Japan but on the other end I'm not a fan of the vast amount of mythology that got introduced during the periodwhere Masuda was the director. Then the multiverse made everything to messy.
It's like that this series is being soft-rebooted every one or two generation but it's never something official (even if BW could be a proper reboot). No fucking wonder every Pokémon fan has its own headcanon

I've been putting effort into distancing myself from Pokemon during this Generation. I'm tired of always feeling tired, annoyed, pissed, angry and bitter.
Gen 8 was a complete and total lowpoint for me regarding this. Galar was shit. Journeys was shit. BDSP was shit. Only Legends was half of a saving grace.
Galar was specially shit. I seriously hate Galar and that that shitstain of Region and everything on it will forever be a part of the franchise kills me inside.
But even with Gen 9 even if there's some things that when you think about think weren't "Gen 8 problems" but "problems on the franchise as a whole that were exacerbated and felt even bigger just by how BAD Gen 8 bad".
The franchise has changed. Don't let any shill or coper or slurper tell you otherwise. Don't let yourself be gaslighted by "this is just a kids franchise hurr you are not the audience anymore durr" either when anyone half a brain can see all the pandering they do specifically directed at older fans.
If you are not blind you can easily see how the priorities, the handling, the philosophies, of the franchise have changed.
And you are all within your right to dislike that and to not want to like Pokemon anymore, because Pokemon is plain and simply a different now.

Those are the only things that feel like they have any real effort put into nowadays, specially romhacks and fangames. Because they're fans making things as best as they can and want because they love Pokemon and want it to be the best it can be.
You won't ever get this from GF and TPC. Not anymore. For a plethora of reasons.
With fanworks you can "fix" things. By creating your own fanart or fanfics you can focus only on the things you like, ignoring the ones you dislike
Use "Pokemon" as a base, but don't the "actual thing" anymore. There's just no point on getting invested anymore since it's always gonna be half-assed to hell and back. Always lacking something.

It is an undeniable fact that jews are the reason every franchise is turning into a soulless, butched mess being shat out as fast as possible to make the maximum money with the minimal work.
Age is just a number, franchises that didn't get pozzed still hype me up as much as 10 years ago.
I, for one, am excited that we'll finally get a different protagonist and this will make me watch the anime. The fact that this doesn't click with OP makes me think that on the contrary, he is still a child stuck in muh satoshi era.
