>Kanto is a barren wasteland and only reason people praise the ability to go there in Gen2 was because Johto already provided a full experience on its own.I agree that Kanto is barren but that's not how most people remember it because of nostalgia. And no Johto is not a full experience on it's own, and I'll tell you why.
1) The big bad of Gen 2 was by far the weakest. Gen 2 Team Rocket's goal was to bring Giovanni back, and you never get that and the arc ends fighting a Team Rocket admin not even the boss.
2)Team building is shit. The few cool gen 2 mons are either extremely hard to get like Heracross, or locked behind trade evolution like Scissor, or locked behind the post game like Houndoom. So most teams end up looking pretty similar (Your starter, Ampharos, and Red Gyrados is on nearly everyone's teams).
2)The Elite four is a boring copy of Gen 1 and with newcomers like Will and Karen are often forgotten because they were outshined by Bruno, Koga, and Lance.
3) The power level of the Gen 2 mons are laughably bad. And because of this the Gym Leaders had to resort to using Kanto mons.
