In the US version, if a Pokémon has a name or nickname that is 10 characters long, the game freezes when you try to evolve it.

Worst case is if your starter or partner is Charmander and you don't nickname it to anything shorter. You'll play the entire game and post-story, only to find out you'll never be able to evolve it.

But it's still fucking annoying

I could never finish the post game in these.
Don't get me wrong I love the games, but after the credits roll, the feeling of urgency in the story simply disappears and I don't feel as inclined to continue the side quests.
Last time I played Sky I went as far as Phione then I got bored
I never went further than latias/latios in Rescue Team either

I personally really like it and I feel like a lot of the problems have with it are mostly nitpicks (no basic attack anymore, friend areas are now menus, etc.). Try the demo, it's one of those demos that are just straight up the beginning of the game with your progress being carried over if you buy the full game.

Unlike the originals, experience is spread through all your recruited Pokémon, so you can easily bring in anyone you have to dungeons without needing to grind levels. Mechanics are also reworked, Gen 7 moves are added, and the music was remastered excellently. I put 200 hours into it, so that’s how much enjoyment I got out of it all.

I started my journey today. First time playing it.

Today me and my partner best friend learned of a new cave with shiny crystals in it hidden behind a waterfall. But wigglytuff suspiciously already knew about it... hmmm...

Anyway I'm loving it so far, love talking to all the other teams everyday! I think my favorite one is team tasty with Swellow and Wurmple! The bird keeps making hunger-related comments which worries poor Wrumple.

Absolutely in love with this little game. I named myself Comfy and my Partner is Frienn

Also don't forget they had the courtesy to add cross-gen evos.
I almost expected regional evos like Alolan Marowak and was a little dissapointed though
Having THE Ninetales be Alolan (since she's in a snowy area) could have been cool too but sadly this wasn't the case.

There wasn't even a team skull reference in gen 7, there's no chance any PMD anything is gonna appear in the mainline games.

There is that NPC in X and Y that talks about people turning into pokemon though.

It's been a long time since I last played it but I think it's after the Dusknoir battle at Spear Pillar. Grovyle drops the Time Gears and ask you to take them and place them on the spire at the top, then drags Dusknoir back to Portland. Then you and your partner mourn a bit and your partner says "well, we gotta go, and carry on his mussion. You remember what he told us to do, right" and the scene plays again, just with that beige filter used in flashbacks.

Smoochum is also the best pokémon for these Lv. 1 dungeons, she levels up fast, gain stats on par with legendaries, Forewarn has a different effect in this game (Evasion +2) and as early as Lv. 11 she gains a room-wide move with good PP and that can freeze enemies. Managed to get Zero Isle West done on my second try as soon as I recruited one, getting me the Amber Tear to recruit evolved Pokémon.

No patience to hunt for evolutionary items in this game, they're all too rare and expensive.

Well shit, that looks better indeed.

And yeah, if I ever bother recruiting a Kecleon it'll be the last thing I'll do in the game. That 0.1% recruit rate at absolute max recruiting chance isn't very appealing... though, he comes with maxed stats.
