>>53187130>Some shit like Sobble or Scorbunny tries way too hard to be cute, but the best ones are always mon like Spheal or Mareep who can pull off the cuteness while maintaining good proportions and functioning without snapping their necks at the slightest movementI can't help but feel something is artificial about them. The illusion of them being natural to their habitat just doesn't jive with me, especially when you look at their latter form. It's probably just me, but when comparing scorbunny to something like mudkip, I can't help but feel something is off when compared to the former. They both have the same beady black eyes to them, a roughly analogous head to body proportion, with the only difference between them being typing, color, and the number of legs that they stand on.
Hell, even their limbs are blobby as well. But no matter how long I look at scorbunny and the likes of sobble, it feels like something is off no matter what.
It's annoying, not being able to pin down the precise factors that just rub me off the wrong way about the newer starters. Even knowing that they were purpose made to be mascots, something still feels off about them even when compared to other purpose built mascots from the past.
Is it the proportions? The shape? The concept? I can only guess.
Oh well, have a cute chikorita.
