One of my favorite pokemon during gen 1. Fast, strong, great move pool. I remember mine had Surf, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt and Psychic. Absolute wrecker of shit, even at a level deficit.

As with any of the later-game or easy pick Shadow Pokemon from Gale of Darkness, I have this unusual preference in familiarity with Starmie. Same for Solrock, but no Lunatone. Objectively speaking it's always been a must.

I've been trying to use mine for Stadium 1 but I often get screwed over with it. Sometimes with a Gengar that knows Thunderbolt on Master Difficutly for Poké Cup. I went with Bubblebeam, Thunderbolt, Recover and Psychic for moves.

Massively overrated in the oldschool gen competitive format.
Gen 6 showed us how shit it really is. When powercreep hits you so badly that you go from OU to NU within ONE generation, you probably weren't all that great to begin with.

Trade bubblebeam for blizzard, it has 90% accuracy and does neutral damage to fire types in gen1. Water isn't needed as much for coverage and psychic already hits hard enough with STAB
