Any pokemon that you never thought much of that really surprised you when you first used them, good or bad?
This guy has been so reliable in B2 I think it might just become a standard party member when I replay it. Tanky and pretty strong with a big movepool.

As for my pick, easily pic related. IT's something I didn't really think much of for my first playthroughs of Emerald outside of it being annoying when fighting Winona

But on a whim, I decided to use it for an Emerald playthrough and holy shit this thing carried so fucking hard. Early Water Gun and Wing Attack make it so good against so much of the early game and just as it's falling behind around Watson or so, it evolves and shits on Flannery and puts in significant work against Norman because of Protect

Normally the midgame is where early game mons like this fall off, but fuck, if anything it got more fucking insane. Surf, Ice Beam, and Fly in quick succession give it a ton of power, and you can even give it Shock Wave to shit on all the swimmers. Honestly it only really started to fall off at the very end of the game, but even then it put in some work vs Drake.

I was so impressed with it that I used it again in my Emerald Nuzlocke, where I carried it all the way to the E4 and it was a HUGE part of my E4 team, albeit dying to Drake

Of course I also gotta mention that Drizzle Pelipper made Rain fuckin awesome again. Pelipper's a fucking bro and I encourage everyone to give it a go, especially in gen 3

Yeah, it's a real bro. Speaking of Hoenn bros, Electrode has surprised me not once, not twice, but THREE separate times

The first time was in Omega Ruby where I just caught it on a whim and it became a key player for catching legendaries

The second was in my Sapphire Nuzlocke where it was a last minute team addition for the Elite Four that basically solo'd Glacia until dying to her Walrein

The final team was in my Emerald nuzlocke where it managed to survive to the very end and give my Gyarados a way to sweep Wallace

Every time I've used this thing it's been nothing but a fucking bro. It even almost made it onto my Legends Arceus team and it would've had a secure spot if I wasn't using Luxray
