There are no murals or statues of Arceus. It doesn't appear in the game at all until you complete the pokedex. Volo is the only one who even knows its name

The game story just stops after the player gets (a fragment of) Arceus.

It's possible that they cruised around Hisui for a bit, got bored, picked up Ingo, hopped on Dialga and returned to the present day.
