>>53386487Lets look at the babies nobody really complains about:
Greater Bridge Babies
Baby Pokémon whose evos were formerly late-game, allowing you to get invested in them and access a weaker version of their niche: OR baby Pokémon whose evos were mid-game Pokémon, but the babies are found earlier and evolve earlier so it provides a similar ideal. You get an earlier power spike than you would’ve for some investment, similar to Magikarp. They typically have decent stats for their join times.
>Elekid & Magby* (Late Game Bridge baby) >Smoochum (Late)>Munchlax (Mid-Late)>Bonsly & Mime Jr. (Mid Game)>Mantyke (Mid-Late)>Budew (Mid) Lesser Bridge Babies
The above, but either the baby is very weak/gimmicky or their evo is despite being mid to late game. Makes you kinda wonder why they’re there.
>Wynaut (Mid)>Chingling (Late)Arbitrary Babies
These babies receive little to no criticism because they were introduced with their parents, which makes their baby label kind of arbitrary and only to annoy breeders.
>Togepi>Riolu>Toxel Nepo Babies
These only exist because their evos, which are already fairly weak, are cute and popular. Basically just for merch.
>Pichu>Igglybuff>Cleffa >AzurillOutliers
>Tyrogue, who serves mostly as lore and is widely appreciated for doing so. Also got a new evo along with it, and has a low evo level for its evos’ power level. Usually doesn’t show up early enough for its low evo level, but it does in SwSh and establishes itself as a weird Lore-G. Bridge-Arbitrary mishmash.>Budew, who is a Bridge baby but also “renovation” baby - the original standalone Pokémon became a three stage Pokémon in one Gen, and three stagers are popular. >Happiny, who is odd because in its intro Gen you get the egg for it right before its evo appears in the wild, but its evo is fairly rare in most games. In modern games Happiny is found way earlier and Chansey is already a solid mon, and its like retroactively a three stager.
