>>53415253I think that's what infuriates me the most about Leon.
The potential for a genuinely good storyline is there. The public/private celebrity thing, how he's shouldering people expectations, be it the common rabble or even the people close to him such as his little brother, and how much the burden weights on him, how that burden and the public image he has to show and how busy he is has made him lose disconnected from people and made him lose relationships like with Sonia, or how it has damaged others like with how Hop feels like he has to live up to his brother reputation so as to not embarrass him placing undue stress on him and making him dwell in self-hatred when he cannot manage to do so, how he's actually scared shitless of losing because this is all he's known his whole entire life and has zero idea what would he do if he lost his Champion title, that there's actual antis who think he's boring as shit because his endless title is stagnating the league, that he always winning is boring, that others feel him being the Champion for so long has made the growth of other Galarian trainer stagnate.
Instead everything about him is played in a completely straightforward and serious manner with zero attempt to explore any facet of his character or story in any meaningful manner.
>>53415296The thing is that Leon is the first time they've made the Champion title be so on the forefront. You'd expect way more to have been done regarding his character.
I still remember all the speculation about the corrupt league, fixed matches, etc because everything about Leon was so on your face there was no way there wasn't a twist or anything hidden underneath.
As I said, it's all played so straightforwardly it's painful to see.
I think that Twilight Wings, or was it Generations? Evolutions? Whichever it was are the only ones who have actually played around with those things I mentioned in some manner.
