Having dinosaur Pokémon in the game would've made too much sense. And remember that Game Freak doesn't want to get too greedy with gameplay elements. Apparently fossil Pokémon is one of the gameplay elements that Game Freak doesn't want to get "too greedy" with.

Aerodactyl is literally referred to as a dinosaur in the Pokedex.

Terms like dinosaur and dog are used to refer to Pokemon, the real life versions don't exist.

It's.not that they went extinct. It's because Game Freak likes to fuck over Rock-type Pokémon for no reason at all.

Also if we're going with the "bad stats is cause of extinction" route then explain Ledian. And would Garchomp be extinct due to being too successful of a predatory species?

It's not Game Freak's fault you cunts still haven't gotten the memo this shit's BASED off the real world, not a mirror of the real world. that's why there's cat pokémon, dog and puppy pokémon, fox pokémon and so on. Well "terrible lizard" pokémon exist too - fans just call them foissilmons though, because they like huffing their own farts and disregarding the canon by-and-large.
