>>53551505>when I read Warriors and Guardians of Ga'Hoole as a kidFunny enough I never did read either of those series. It was reading some of the dragonlance books at first that got me wondering.
>cared for but ultimately confined with limited companionship in a labDamn, that sounds sad for a social creature to be locked in a cage like that, even if there are reasons.
>Interestingly enough, there's a surprising amount of discussion among animal welfare advocates about how anthropomorphic is *too* anthropomorphic when interpreting animal behaviorYeah, I've seen that a lot too. Not just in furry terms but in the more classical meaning of the word too, imo its good to think of them if you do think of them as friends as distinctly *not* human, like with pets for example. If you're going to have some sort of pet lizard or snake, its better for both to actually know the behavior of the species, and of that particular creature, helps to take better care of them and appreciate them more at least imo.
Though I do find it funny how many people assume animals of any sort to be mindless flesh machines and are baffled every time by non-standard behaviors out of them.>>53551544>Sort of like a more motile carnivorous plant in some regardsSame sort of conclusion I came to more or less (with some asides to how apparently ANY Pokemon can just eat berries/fruits/etc and still survive off of that, somehow). Thinking up a whole non-existent ecology can be fun though! And certainly gives more to work with in this case than the original writers/developers left.
>ammoniaYeah, its a fascinating thing to consider a different solvent, even if it would be wildly impractical. It'll be fun if we ever start exploring the outer solar system in full and see if there is anything interesting among certain moons...
