The scientists did interact with her a fair amount (including letting her watch Jurassic Park - ostensibly as a joke, but narratively to give her a mistaken reason to escape), and they gave her a stuffed toy raptor, but there's only so much socializing you can do with a member of another species who can't be trusted with free roam.
