>>53544730I stopped watching the ashnime when I realized it was terrible, just like any other sentient human being above the age of 12 would, so I can't speak for that trash as I never made it anywhere near that far. But I will admit that the Sun and Moon games had some fantastic characters.
I think a lot of this has to do with how gen 7 came right after 6, and gen 6 had probably the most bland characters since gen 1. And the reason I say this (before a kalosperm attacks me) is that all the gymleaders in XY basically just sit in their gyms and essentially contribute nothing to the story. Conversely, in SM, most Trial Captains and Kahunas are proactive in the story, do things, spend time with you, and show up more than once throughout to really leave an impression. Unfortunately, gen 8 and gen 9 sort of go backwards from this though.
