>>53579045Yep! The only love of learning they didn't kill in me was science, and even that was only because of outside stuff like Mythbusters which made it plenty clear that this stuff really is fun.
>musicDead to me in kindergarten because it was all either singing the typical little kids songs or the teacher just letting us all loose with whatever instruments while they fucked off to their office so they didn't have to deal with us. Took up an instrument for wildly unrelated reasons for a few years until I grew to hate it, only started appreciating music towards the end of 8th grade when a friend introduced me to metal.
>mathThe teachers were only allowed to show us "the one correct way according to the curriculum" so it took way more effort to understand than necessary and only by the grace of loving computers and games did I see any real reason to learn. Still can't shake the feeling of dread anytime I have to do more than basic addition/subtraction though.
>artI loved it but they never taught us HOW to use the tools or any theory and then they started restricting what we were allowed to make art of so I got frustrated with the lack of progress and creativity and stopped. Trying to pick it up again.
>trades/life skills like automechanics, woodshop, or cookingEither the school was too underfunded and/or afraid of potential risks to offer it, or you basically never got to get hands on because one chowder-head would goof off and instead of kicking them out of class they made everyone do bookwork.
>historyThey only teach to the tests, and instead of teaching you more things they'd go over the same stuff every year with slightly more mature language. Wasn't until 5th grade they even mentioned the other states and 8th grade was my first world history class. Plus the text books were so old because "it's history, it doesn't change!" that they were still teaching misconceptions that had been debunked or glossing over "mysteries" that had been solved a decade ago.
