>>53686591For starters, it is an entirely different experience seeing the game on a computer screen vs on the Gameboy. Even down to the music playing from the speaker vs headphones. Physical copies are also tangible and takes less maintenance if you ever want to play again; having to micro-manage where your ROM sav file is at all times on every computer in the event you get a new one is unnecessary effort. All that aside, just the value in being able to transfer any Pokemon you care about alone is worth it. Hell, you could even argue that the portability is also a plus.
Is it financially smarter to play on a ROM? Sure, but for most people, ROMs just aren't authentic. In the same breath, you can also hope for cheaper cartridges while still detesting ROMs.
