>>53815524Here's the thing. People bitch and moan constantly about having to use HMs on their Pokémon to navigate the world, because they swear up and down that it needs to be a full team of six with varied typings that's evenly leveled, and "mandatory moves" takes away from that.
Thief stopped permanently stealing items exactly when TMs became reusable. This is funny because in Platinum, they introduced a Trainer who you can battle daily whose Pokémon holds a Rare Candy, and the goal is to get to her daily and use Thief. Things like this are now impossible.
A dedicated Pokémon used to make catching easier is one that isn't designed around winning battles. These moves can be useful in battles, but moves like False Swipe are made specifically so you DON'T KO the opponent, and it would never be used outside of dedicated catching.
I don't have those other Pokémon on my team at every given moment, but half my party is situational. I'll always have the one battler and two HM slaves since they serve the greatest utility at any given time, and the other three are designed around all the other things I want to do at that moment. I don't need 6 regular battles.
