Yeah it's unpopular because it's a garbage take. You have to catch something to have breeding stock, capturing is still part of the system. Egg moves add more variety to a movepool without relying on "oh fuck is this a TM or Tutor this generation" garbage.

Having to research who gets what move by breeding is jumping through even more hoops. It would make a lot more sense for there to be something in the dex where you could see all discovered moves, select one, and do something akin to super training to learn it. If the whole species can learn it, it doesn't make any sense for it to be bound to genetics. TMs at least give you an idea of what moves are available and tutors make sense from a lore perspective. Breeding is shit for moves. I also understand why it exists for Natures and IVs, but it's shit gameplay. You know what else you could do if breeding appeals to you? Turn on a breathing timer and stare at a fucking ceiling

Biggest reason I havent toched the game for a long ass time are those overly priced vitamins and even with the Amulet Coin the money earning process is still too slow and tedious for all the pokemon I want EV trained
Either the vitamins are ridiculsy overpriced or earning enough cash to give every competitive pokemon max EV vitamins is a long pain process

I've been trying to get all gold symbols on and off for almost 2 years (been at 2 of 7 for a while) and the real problem isn't even the breeding, it's the fucking insanely bullshit sets they put on the mons that really fucking make it a slog. Including getting a natu with the proper nature and synchronize then a ditto then breeding and ev training the Mon you want takes maybe an afternoon at most per mon.
Just last night I lost on battle 52 on the battle tower AGAIN because I switched from my latias into my snorlax on a Walrein which immediately landed sheer cold on the switch and killed me. At 20 minutes per round that was roughly 2 hours down the drain. So many Pokemon you play against have absolutely annoying double team stall and OHKO sets. Without that and the battle palace the whole thing would be much more bearable.

My complain with ORAS just like with Let's Go and BDSP is they willingly choose to remake the inferior versions of those games. All the content those regions added should be in the remakes
Just how HGSS is basically a Crystal remake, if they remade Johto today it would be barebone Gold Silver remakes just to be "faithful"

Crystal's "big" additions begin and end at the hour long Suicune questline and the Battle Tower. It'd probably be the least substantial 3rd version released if Yellow didn't exist

Faithful is the biggest scam term. Really wish more people would call out GF specifically for wasting dev time working on 'faithful' remakes. We absolutely did not need LGPE and BDSP to exist, and the faithfulness of ORAS was just an excuse to make a blocky overworld and cut out Emerald content.

My problem isn't with those remakes existing, is that they choose to make them as barebones as possible. They weren't made to be the best the version of the game they could possibly be like FRLG and HGSS were.
ORAS does feel like it was made because they were forced to even though XY clearly needed improvements
Let's Go only exist to lure Go players
BDSP is just there to fill the remake quota

Just grind tera raids for sellable items and bottle caps, you need to grind them for shards anyway. Then buy a bunch of Power items and EV train the old fashioned way, it'll take way less time than grinding vitamin money from trainers. One (1) dead Gogoat + Power Weights on every mon in your party = an HP Up on every mon in your party.

This is why I prefer Swsh's idea of implementing Tiers into this.

It's just frankly bs to have to re-do the first 28-35 battles of filler, get fucked on battle 43 or whatever, and have to start over. Doing bdsp really showed me how much this sucks dick to do.

Whether it be ever more difficult battles, saving your rank at "master" or whatever, or saving your current tier and then resetting once you reach the highest AI "peak" all would be better than "lol 3 hours down the drain thanks to OHKO wide lens'

I got a classic ds just so I could start a new emerald file and beat the battle frontier with a team that wasn’t the bland, tried and true Latios + Metagross teams. I threw the towel when I realized just how fucking massive of a grind it was to make battle ready Pokémon with good, but not perfect Pokémon.

I started competitive Pokémon in the DPPt days, and it was pretty high commitment back then, but it was pretty satisfying. 3rd Gen ev training makes 4th Gen ev training look like a picnic trip, even with the exceptionally lucky full odds pokerus I just happened to get. The elite 4 in hoen is super low level without the post game level boost and makes exp grinding extra shit. Even with the battle tower cloning glitch, getting all those rare candies, TMs and energy drinks is incredibly long and grindy.

It’s just… I can’t take it man! I can’t FUCKING take it!
