Monster Hunter Rise's DLC reintroduced Gore's frenzy virus after COVID completely fucked up the development and relase of the base game but got zero backlash for it. And even introduced a new bat-like parasite that can temporarily afflict almost all monsters with a similar effect. Pokemon has no excuse.

SV was new. BDSP was so copy paste they left most of the known glitches in (before making new ones). The BDSP soundtrack was so close to G1 quality that it needed patched. No improvements from Platinum were carried over, even though already using the original DP code as a base. SV at least never messed up a Pokémon so badly that Home blocks it, where as BDSP did it two fucking times.

They always planned to do a majorly update for SV? I have no idea how anyone would think otherwise. Home needed to add functionality for

>add data for all possible Paldea catch locations and methods
>add new marks
>add legality details for all new mons to determine what to block by ball, move, PID, encounter area, etc (yes, its still bad and rarely catches things)
>rework sizing to account for SV and Go
>add Tera typing data, specifically how it'll stay or be lost if move to older games
>rework move relearner system for moving to games (not required, but extra)
I usually harp on mistakes in this franchise, but this was the first major new gen since Home existed. Of course they'd be making a major upgrade. I expect the same with G10 compatability months after that comes out.
