Normal is highly underestimated. It’ only has one weakness. Gets good moves like Hyper Voice and Body slam. And was probably even better in Gen 1 than Psychic was.

I know I am biased against it. But then when I examine its type interactions, I realized its actually not that bad.

Resisted by 2 types, Steel and Rock, both weak to fighting and ground.

Ghost is immune to normal, but normal. is also immune to ghost.

Weak to fighting.

The biggest issue is Normal is not SE against anything, and really that's the only problem in my eyes. And I believe that's the issue with people's general apreciation of the type.

What if Normal was SE against Fairy?

The mundane as an antidote for the supernlatural.

Normal has been suggested as being SE against Fairy ever since gen 6, and I'm all for that. Normal not having all 4 type interactions bothers me, too.

Odor Sleuth, Foresight, Lock On, Mind Reader are all Normal type moves that are all themed around dispelling illusions, striking true.

I guess normal could be construed around disbelief, a sort of skeptic quality of sorts.

But the problem is that concept would make any supernatural type vulnerable, including Psychic, Ghost and Fairy.
