In XY/ORAS Furfrou lost their trims when being put into the PC, while in SM/USUM they gained the ability to be stored with their trim, but it was removed when they're taken out of the PC (additionally it reverts the trim when transported from the game into Bank or when put into the nursery/daycare).
However, because it's Pokemon Go, its not a free lunch. The various trims are scattered around the various regions of the world or exclusively during certain event periods, which makes certain trims much rarer than others from how those regions are allocated.
The icing on the cake is that Furfrou tends to be an event spawn, so people can only grind them out while they're available (and that's not even getting into the fact that they released the shiny form in Go as well, so people who want a living dex with all shiny and form variants but don't play Go want them).
