>>54416835imo the best way to enjoy them is to figure out what it is you want from the games and play them accordingly. my last playthrough I decided I wanted to do as much as possible, so I would hop on for a couple hours each day to harvest apricorns, catch some things to fill up my dex, play some side stuff like the Pokéathlon and casually progress the story. bumrushing any Pokémon game without stopping to do what you enjoy means you'll have a bad time regardless. there's a lot of content in HGSS but it can take a while to trudge through it all anyway, so take your time.
as far as which version is better, play both if you want to complete the dex. otherwise pick the one with the version exclusives you like best. you can catch both box legends in either game but there are other legendary exclusives
