Literally every girl in Gen VII is a 9/10 at worst. Meanwhile the only designs I love from Galar are Gloria and Battle Tower Leon (granted I REALLY like both of them). I recognize Marnie is also extremely popular but she doesn’t beat the Alolan girls imo.

Children characters showing as much skin as possible will never be the peak of anything design-wise. Would you like those character designs as much if they were wearing the same clothes and had the same hair but were in their early 20s ?

I'd say Gen 8 and 9. We're in that peak right now. Enjoy it!

SV's character design appeals more to westoids fetishes but, as far as pure aesthetics go, it is a clear, objective downgrade in quality from the art direction of previous gens.
It is not just the lolis. The routes, pokemon, male characters and even the hag NPCs have far more appealing designs in Alola.

Bea and Marnie are good, (pretty much the only positive things in gen 8) but gen 7 was goddamn waifu heaven. From random trainers like Aether Employee, Skull Grunt, and Sightseer, to the best girl trio of Lillie, Mallow and Lana.

I don't know how to phrase it, but I find that gen 8 have poorly drawn characters. Bea's hair lack details, Nessa's anatomy and eyes looks weird, Milo overall, Gordie's legs and shoes... and that's off the top of my head.
They don't look good imo.

The art director was an ugly overweight woman who dyes her hair.
