I think its decently big. I have 2390 images in the folder about half of them are Ash x Dawn stuff or related, the others are memes and screenshots iv taken over the years. the folder is about 1gb.

I don't think there's any realistic chance of this happening, but I think it'd be cool if Horizons pulled a Pokespe Black/White and used time travel/dimension hopping to divide the party; i.e., Liko and people get sent to Violet Paldea while Roy and people stay in Scarlet Paldea. That way you can include the storylines on both of the -raidons and pull in past and future paradox Pokemon. Also I just think it'd be a cool new direction. Liko can get Dot and Amethio's group while Roy gets the remaining Volteccers. Divide the evil Explorers up too. I'm just making shit up as I go, I have no idea if this is a good idea or not.

For starters, Scorbunny charged up Ember to modify its output. This is literally the foundation of what Nyahoja is doing. Secondly, Scorbunny magically transferred Ember to the rock. Flames don't stick to a rock like that without it being a certain kind of rock or coated in a certain kind of material. Ember just isn't the kind of move to do this. That's enchantment. But it's the Scorbunny line, them kicking fireballs around is their theme, so it can be looked past to a degree. Still less reasonable than a 'big leafage', though.

It was not "that simple verbiage". The words initially used were different, the enunciation played a role, and they were each given in specific contexts that made the intention and need clear to Nyahoja.

They did have practice, that was exactly what Kabu was there for. To give them a safer environment to figure it out, to guide them towards understanding this method. If you're complaining about the speed Nyahoja initially learned it, Nyahoja took about 5 seconds to fire a 'big' Leafage at first. The second time it took about 3 seconds. If this is still too fast for you, I kind of agree, but anime can't really afford to dedicate long stretches of screentime towards training on basic moves. Plebs just don't want the slow burn, even though they gladly spend years of their life wasting away their vigor and wealth in casinos, mmorpgs, and twitch chatrooms.

This was in response to a standard Leafage not having the oomph required to put out a flame at the edge of the arena. Liko accompanied this command by spreading her arms around herself and extending the duration she said 'big'. When Nyahoja did so, instead of simply firing a quick Leafage from her neck tuft, she circled the Leafage energy around her head before firing, held it in for a bit, and fired a Leafage using the entire radius of the now larger firing base, resulting in a significantly larger attack hitbox that remained cohesive enough to linger around the target for several seconds after collision.

Liko gave this command after her 'big' leafage was dodged. Liko accompanied this command by closing her palms in front of her neck and thrusting them forward, and the way she worded the command placed a pause during "clumped up" followed by quickly saying "and sharp". The wording is a bit weird, but this isn't a scientific thesis. Feeling and instinct plays a large role in sports, and especially so in the pokemon world where intrinsic understanding through aura bonds are a thing. Nyahoja clearly understood the meaning, she charged up a Leafage, but instead of the usual loose collection of swirls gathering around her neck tuft, only her neck tuft glowed. She held in the energy for a short time, then burst it forward with a swift motion. The result was a much smaller, but concentrated attack that travelled swiftly and accurately to put out the flame. The quick pierce of a spear, rather than the slow crush of a hammer.

This concludes today's lecture.

I like how this plays into their personalities. Liko, the prodigy, pretty much figured it out on her first try and began dominating the competition. Meanwhile Roy, even after observing Liko, just didn't get it and bruteforced the rest of the match with singing. But Roy won because Liko didn't really care about winning and let him have it. Just like Leon, Cynthia, and Steven felt bad for how strongly Ash wanted to win and just gave him a free win.

Since the other anon encouraged me, here's my cringe Horizons fanfiction:

Around episode 50, going by current pacing, the Terapagos story concludes in what looks like a final showdown between the Explorers and the Rising Volteccers over Rayquaza. During the fighting Amethio finally loses decisively to Friede, and at some point Terapagos does its imagination/time powers because it feels threatened and sends itself, Liko, Dot, Amethio, Spinel, and Agate to a different world. Roy, the Volteccers, Zir, Conia, Sango and Onyx stay in their world. Both sides try to figure out how to get everyone back home. Since Roy's world has the Brave Asagi, they look for time travel places abroad: Sinnoh for Dialga and Palkia, Johto for Celebi, Kitakami because they have to. Eventually both lead their way back to Area Zero, where the actual finale happens.

I'd give Team Liko the Arven storyline, since Team Roy already has Nemona. Team Liko would be similar to pre-SM Ashnime, where seeing places and Pokemon is the focus. Amethio is originally prickly with Liko and Dot but, cowed from his loss to Friede, gradually becomes less of a prick as they travel across Paldea, at one point stopping Spinel from attacking. Eventually they meet Miraidon and Arven, and head to Area Zero based on Turo's research. Team Roy would be more of the world tour that Horizons has been up to this point. Once their leads abroad dry up, Team Roy heads back to Paldea to consult with Lucca. There they start investigating attacks by Pokemon that seem to be from the ancient past, hoping to find clues. That leads them to Koraidon and Area Zero. Both sides conclude at Area Zero, where Gideon, paradox Pokemon, Lucius' six, the double raidons, and Turo/Sada's time machines all come into play. Team Liko and Team Roy reunite in the original timeline, and Spinel dies a horrific death. There's more that can go into it, but I'm about to hit the character limit.

That's actually a good point ESL #2. Ash has remained consistently retarded for the entire 26 years. Even in DP and XY when he was "at his peak", he was still a dumbass. The only one who's improved over time was Pikachu and some of his other pokemon like Charizard, and each time they've been nerfed back down to Ash's level.

Question for the oldfags around here. I'm still searching for old bits and pieces of info on how the older series was written/any insight about how people like Tomioka and the rest approached the show. So far most of the stuff I've found have been older Bulbapedia/Serebii threads, some deviantArt and later tumblr stuff. Usenet unfortunately was mostly about the TCG, very little about the anime is discussed on there. Most of the interviews on fan sites are skim, and for Tomioka, focused on his work on DBS and Digimon. Pic related though is a screenshot from alt.games.pokemon.hentai from 1999. Extremely fucking weird people.

So every fandom has their rumormill and stuff that gets passed through word of mouth. I was on the gaming side of Pokemon, so I'm aware of all that stuff. On the Pokemon anime side though, I keep running into people either shitting on Tomioka for being "corporate" and sanitizing Shudo's vision (generally they seem to be very pro-BW anime), or talking about Yajima keeping Tomioka on a leash and preventing XY from being DP (good or bad). No one's ever actually pointing to any actual sources about these things though, but I'd imagine there was some interview or source somewhere that formed the basis. Do any of the oldfags here know anything about it? Is it all just rumor or supposition from viewers? Maybe Japanese leakers or stuff like that? That was prominent on the gaming side in the mid-2000s even if most of it was bullshit.

You might have to toss around a lot of words in Japanese around in the Google search. A lot of the insight about the Shows writing became progressively a black box overtime. The best bet might be looking on Japanese tabloids for referral linking to more material. It's an obscure web sometimes about the whole shows writing when it's behind the scene.

Gave just some random searches a try. Went through a few writers' names on Google just to see what came up, and thankfully it turns out a few of them have twitters. Which makes sense; they're freelancers working in production, so they kind of have to have a social media presence. It sucks that twitter's become such a piece of shit to navigate over the past few years, because trawling randomly through them is a pain.

Just by googling Akemi Omode's name in JP + twitter, I did find out she apparently got a lot of flack from overseas Amourshippers for XY105 (which was a pretty amourshippy episode, so I don't get why). That one was posted on one of the reddits, so I don't think it's particularly original, but it's the most interesting thing so far.

The front page of the above link should point to some archive links with older episodes. The main episodes for the PocketMonsters DP and BW should still work okay, just give them a bit of time. I recently downloaded both series from their tracker. XY I can't speak for, other than that the Iris special and the Cilan and Clemont special worked. There's an archive out there for PocketMonsters' early DP subs too, but they've renounced those ones for being inaccurate. Similar proviso for some of the AG subs listed here, but all that info is on the sheet. For all the rest, check Pokeflix. Their subs are generally not great, but if you have to make do, it's there.

I hope it evolves. While I'm glad Horizons is popular and successful enough to make people second guess if the suits will try to milk this status quo for another 26 years, it would be a blow to the story's quality if it never evolved. Evolution is supposed to be a major source of strength for pokemon. Roy and Fuecoco both want to get stronger, choosing not to evolve would go against that.

I've noticed this common trend among the Ashjeets. They all keep talking about Ash as if he has a "final form" of some sorts, where he's this ubermensch trainer with 9999iq strategies.

Makes sense. People who played the games have already been exposed to the franchise for a while and already knew the anime was garbage not worth their time, so even though the games consistently sold well, everyone already knew not to give the anime any more chances. Pokemon Go drew in people who didn't play the mainline games, meaning they didn't have the common knowledge that the anime was dogshit. Luckily for the anime, it had Goh in it, which kept these newer viewers around.

It syncs up pretty well, too. Pokemon Go had already been around from 2016, but Ash was bland and uninteresting so the newer viewers didn't stick around. However, as fortune would have it, Pokemon Go hit a new peak of players in 2020, summoning an entire new batch of viewers for the anime, who decided to actually stick around this time because coincidentally that's also when Goh was around and getting quite a few episodes dedicated to him.
