Nothing actually. Gholdengo is just an escapegoat for a larger issue of limited hazard removal since it’s been the first Pokemon since Gen 5 to be able to block hazard removal (unless you don’t count Court Change)
In fact Gholdengo is arguably keeping this Metagame from collapsing as it checks a bunch of key threats while being able to fit on most teams, much like Landorus-T.

People want him suspect tested in Nat Dex where there's plenty of defog users to go around.

But the reason people want him suspected is exactly the same. Even with the format's high distribution of defog users, Gholdengo still has little trouble blocking defog and 1v1ing nearly all of them.

Against defog, he flatout wins. Against rapid spin, he still wins because even if he switches into Great Tusk's earthquake and gets OHKO'd, the the offensive monster that comes in is guaranteed to force the spinner out and keep the hazards on the field. He is not only the greatest defogger of all time, but also a top 4 spinblocker in the entire game after The Father (Arceus Ghost), The Son (Giratina), and The Holy Spirit (Giratina-O).

What other Pokemon artists draw faces like that?
The vertical oval eyes and bean shaped mouth are typical of Turner, you can see it in the Vanillite line, the Sinistea line, Tatsugiri and the Trozei NPCs he designed.
