I wish they still made regions based on only a small, you know, region instead of entire countries. They did it for Orre and Unova so I don't see why they stopped doing it.
It made all of them feel much more fantastical rather than just being not!France or whatever.

The only opportunity to have a couple of African references in a Pokemon game and GF looked the other way, where did these Giraffes, Ostrichs, and Elephants in pokespain come from? It's quite a mystery.
