>Bulbasaur line3 stages are different stages of bulb
ivysaur and bulbasaurs body are pretty comparable but the bulb growing is more than enough of a difference
>pidgey linethe hair being the focus of the design has significant growth throughout the stages, the proportions of each stage adjust to protray a different stage of life and it fits better on pidgeot which is just "normal bird but strong, big, and fantasy-like"
>poliwag linethere is significant growth between poliwag and poliwhirl thematic and visually, poliwag is like a stupid cartoon tadpole without arms, where poliwhirl is a friendly guy who can finally do stuff, the evolution to poliwrath has him change proportions, thicker limbs, different body shapes to his stomache arms legs and eyes, to give an overall impression of an aggressive, tough upgrade from the friendly demeanor of poliwhirl
>pawshit lineTries to replicate the elegant simplicity of gen 1 lines yet misunderstands it completely. Every design is the same, they all give the same vibe without meaningful changes. They have the same eyes, the same puffy limbs. The changes in proportions and base features are less noticeable than the top 3 gen 1 lines because they are all the same design. All of the features present on all 3 stages communicate the same thing. I am usually an advocate for subtle or "it just gets bigger" evolutions but this shit is just uninspired. The tufts of hair dont communicate anything. If you put pidgeots hair on pidgey it would look weird for a first stage but if you put pawmy 3's hair on pawmy 1 it gives the same effect. The changes on the pawmys are superficial and not meaningful enough to convey different designs.
