The wait for SV's DLC to release differs from SwSh's because it was teased since the base game. For over a year, players have been debilitating over ambiguous plot points presented in base game 'Scarlet and Violet' such as the "Disk Pokemon", or the various Paradoxes. With the release of 'The Teal Mask', more questions were raised. Some of these raised questions included: the connection between Kitakami's Crystal Pool and Paldea's Area Zero, the inner workings behind Kieran's descent into darkness aside from feelings of betrayal, the Loyal Three's true master, and more. Being in circles such as the Pokemon leaking community and /vp/ would make the wait more difficult due to accessing tidbits of detailing such as the appearance of "Dokutaro" in the Loyal Three's story artwork, and the "zombies" that will appear in the Blueberry Academy. 'The Indigo Disk' serves as the final payoff to all of the points previously listed. DLC 2, taking place in the Blueberry Academy and likely back in Area Zero, will finally provide answers to everything that players have been wondering about (assuming Game Freak does not drop the ball, but I digress).
Meanwhile, 'The Isle of Armour' and 'The Crown Tundra' were simply more stories set in the Galar region. They were advertised as being the content that would have appeared in a third version. There was no overarching buildup that was introduced in the base game and then flowed through the rest of the major plots which would follow (Base Game+Isle of Armour > Swordward and Shielbert > Crown Tundra). SV are also the first games in the series to have distinct storylines for the player to follow, giving the audience a chance to properly bond with and explore most major characters.
>TLDR 1: Game Freak has been stringing people along for over a year now
>TLDR 2: 'Scarlet and Violet' finally perfects the recipe that Game Freak has been attempting to deduce for decades: multiple, properly defined storylines
