A lot of HGSS's soundtrack just tries really hard to be nostalgic. The National Park theme isn't that bad once you make it past the excessive intro, but the Route 29 theme pisses me off with how excessively schmaltzy it tries to be.

I don't like either version. Johto music is completely overrated. The only songs I particularly care for are the trainer battle theme, the gym leader battle theme, and the Lance/Red theme.

that 'fuck' is completely right. why have a long beginning at all? the first time you're there is cool, but every time after that is you just passing through the park and the music never reaches the part it's well-known for. it's over-musical.

It's cool to listen to on its own but in-game it takes too long to get going, by the time the piano intro is over you have either walked through the entire park or you've ran into a wild encounter and the song is interrupted which kills the entire vibe

A lot of the HGSS remixes have this problem

This was already the case in GSC, it only reaches that part of the song the second time around which requires you to actively wait for it to some degree. Gen 4 maps are bigger and movement is slower so having the music be longer makes sense. Not to mention gen 4 is the first gen where the music picks up where it left off after a battle, so if you're grinding or battling the trainers you're much more likely to hear that part of the song in gen 4 than in gen 2 where the music resets every time. This complaint is such a nothing-burger.

Im not a troll or a anything. I genuinely like the original music more. Hgss isn’t bad. It just feels a bit extra. I think the original ost but on a less BEEEPY soundchip would be perfect.
