Maybe making Flygon a special attacker (80 > 100 at the very least) and giving it the abilities Sand Rush and Tinted Lens would save it. Even if it’s mainly cause there’s any special attacking ground-types, let alone fast ones.

Flygon should NOT be Bug Type. Not because Bug is unfitting, but because Ground and Dragon are both WAY more pivotal for Flygon thematically/conceptually. It's based on the "sand dragon" nickname antlions have. That pun is the entire basis on which Flygon was made.

Both of its current Types are MUCH more important than Bug Type for it, especially because Flygon is a reptile that merely resembles an insect. (the compound eyes, antenna and elytra wings all only superficial resemble insect body parts.) Don't get me wrong, Flygon still WOULD be Bug Type if having 3 Types was a thing, but without that, you clearly can't remove Dragon, since that's what it is. And you cannot take away Ground Type from it. The Pokedex literally calls Flygon the "elemental spirit of the desert". Trapinch burrow and dig traps in sand, Flygon causes sandstorms whenever they fly. Sand Tomb was originally based on antlion sand pits before it got changed to a generic sand twister attack. Everything about this family line is based around sand, digging and deserts.

The whole point of Flygon is being based around the "sand dragon" term taken literally, and its Typing reflects this. There just isn't any room to slap Bug Type on it while remaining faithful to what Flygon actually is conceptually.

Vibrava is the only stage in the line that's bug like. Trapinch is a turtle, and the only insectile element of flygon is the ILLUSION of compound eyes created by the red lenses over its actual eyes. I really think that vibrava started off as an unrelated mon and they just decided to use it as a second stager because small company please understand.

Great going dumbfuck. Flygon fags are some of the stupidest fuckers that don't even understand the Pokémon they claim to like. Ground dragon was a unique combo when it came out. I like Flygon but I hate these fuckers. Just give it quiver dance there a niche that Garchomp can't have.

Pokemon should just be innately airborne or not completely separate from Types and abilities. Then give Flygon Tinted Lens, Sand Stream and Arena Trap. Also it should be minimum base 115 speed, a higher speed is easily the best way to distinguish it from 'Chomp.

ngl I like flygon but I agree some of its fans can be annoying. especially since the main point of of contention seem to be that a mid game mon is outclassed by a psuedo legendary, keep in mind that midgame mon had an entire generation to shine, and even in later gens, Flygon still gets enough tools to have solid niches in lower tiers and Game Freak even had the decency to so some restraint with their Garchomp worship considering how its mega was more of a sidegrade than a buff or how it still has been denied dragon dance.

And you don't even need to look far to see Pokemon treats far worse than Flygon. Hoeen is was ground zero for SFMA syndrome or just plain embarrassingly low stats, full of pokemon that were snubbed for megas.
The entire Gen 2 dex is "little-brothered" by Gen 1, the the point were Game Freak threw most of them under the bus just to make Gen 1 pokemon shine even more. even the fucking starters are treated like bargain bin versions of KANTOOOO's.
Fuck, even Game Freaks precious golden child Gen 1 has several Pokemon who would kill for a sliver of love from Game Freak. that Flygon gets.

However it kind of silly that Flygon is the one Hoenn Dragon didn't get a mega

I personally find making it a Sp. Atk (80 > 100) would be a better way of setting it apart from Garchomp, and also Sand Rush. Cause of how many physical ground-types there are and how few special ground-types there is to fill

Bug's resisted by seven types, while Dragon is only super effective to itself (also being cucked by Fairy). Flygon would also lose immunity to chip damage from Sandstorm, lose STAB for Earthquake & Earth Power, and become weak to Stealth Rock.

Flygon being Bug/Dragon would actually make it worse than it is right now, so it's better off being "Garchomp but worse" than "Flygon but now with a shit STAB combo".

What is it with people wanting to make changes for weaker Pokemon that would result in them being worse? Don't let emotions and dumbass memes get the best of you.

They could've given him Sand Stream. Yeah, I'm serious. Would've skyrocketed his usability alone. If you'd want to tone it down, them small buffs to speed and attack would've been a lot more than what it's gotten.
