In HGSS, if you have the patience and attention span (which is required in most older RPGs anyways.) It's quite a fun experience. You get to have fun 2 regions, battle 16 gym leaders, have a beautiful fleshed out sequel story, the safari zone, battle frontier, many different fleshed out routes to explore and even return to with new TMs. You actually have to work for strong and worthwhile pokemon such as Dragonite and Tyranitar, it actually has a national dex, not to mention the sinjoh ruins exists, and the final battle with red is absolutely beautiful.

The best thing about SV is that once you get past the tutorial section (everything up to Mesagoza) you can literally go at your own pace and not be constantly cock blocked by story related cutscenes.
Wanna just catch all the new Pokemon? Sure, go at it.
Wanna do a gym leader out of order? No one's there to stop you.
Wanna try out a cool battle item? Don't have to go all the way to endgame anymore. Just buy them at the big cities.

As much as I fucking hate Scarlet & Violet as products it is the golden standard of the amount of freedom a Pokemon game SHOULD have. All it needs is berry farming and the camp system from SwSh and it's perfect.

The fun with JRPGs back then was basically presenting the player a challenge of getting from point A from point B -- not necessarily now hard the NPCs are or the random encounters are but using those two things as tools to create obstacles for the player to overcome. When you factor that in with the level design of the overworld, good music and a decent story to keep the player interested you got the formula to make literally any RPG better than your typical open world game.

By your own admission (>>55032479) you are fighting every possible battle. All someone needs to do to have less experience points to distribute before Lance is not.

38 is very low, but if it’s an evenly distributed team on a reduced battle run, it’s certainly possible. I’m generally in the low 40s for team average and mid 40s for my sweeper when I face Lance just because the sweeper will get a larger share of the experience in the Elite 4.

Exactly, the tediousness of earthbound zero is what makes the game enjoyable for an example. Or the old JRPG stereotype of making everything have a surprising difficulty spike once you make it to the second section of the game. RPGs require patience, a high attention span and using your brain, and it's clearly what the SV brainlet lacks, which tells me he has had no prior experiences with any other RPGs besides Pokemon.

SV has actually good gameplay, it's a game with mechanics that all improve the experience of playing a Pokemon game. It's the first time the series really evolved in 25 years and it's a big step forward.

People who shit on SV don't actually understand what makes a Pokemon game good. Most of them are stuck on entirely subjective things and nostalgia.
