Anyways, I would rather not get any old character than just having them randomly showing up in a battle tower type thing.
Have them be apart of the story or a side quest. Do that with the new characters as well. Fucking do SOMETHING with these characters beyond designing them. Like each one of the Gym Leaders should have a quest chain, same thing for the Team Star leaders. There is a reason why Cynthia is popular beyond coomers. She is an actual character that is involved in the games events. Not just a boss NPC you will never need to interact with again.

To be fair one of the title legendaries is an Electric type and Unova has a decent selection of Electric types otherwise.
Elesa quitting her Gym leader stint to either advance into the E4 or focus on contests for example works too.

Clay had a pretty major role in BW1 and 2 both during his chapter of the story and by being the first to show up at Ns castle, driftveil city is important for bw1s story and has the PWT in 2. Driftveil is probably set to have some extra significance in the unova remakes so they're shilling him

Anon aside from old legendaries being tradable there is zero indication of time passage between SV and any of the other games except for PLA due to the background image of Laventon being shown in class.
As far as we can tell SV could be simultaneous to BW or years apart.

The games we do have time frames for are:

>FRLG/ORAS are simultaneous (meaning Brendan and May are the oldest protags being 2 years older than Red and Blue)
>HGSS/DPP are simultanous and take place 3 years after FRLG/ORAS (protags are 14)
>BW1 take place around 2 years after DPP with Caitlin turning 14 in BW1 and her visibly being a tween girl during DPP (Again protags are 14)
>BW2 take place 2 years after BW1 (protag age is not mentioned)
>XY is shortly after BW1 possibly simultaneous with BW2, protags are between 15 and 17
>SM takes place after BW2, at least long enough for Colress to escape prison abroad.
>SM takes place a decade after Anabel disappeared from Hoenn through an Ultrawormhole with her stating she was the leader of the Battle frontier (going by ORAS continuity where there is no Battle frontier when the MC finishes his work we are left with several years room in between, tho i would wager 3-4 years tops since the Battlefrontier is refferenced in DP)
>Male SM MC has the same derivative Jap name as Brendan which usually implies familial relation.
>The SM mom looks suspiciously like Phoebe.
