Nature Preserve wasn't located anywhere in the original Unova map, so it returning with the full context of where it's from is okay. Meanwhile, Viridian forest literally takes place in Kanto and we know where it's location from. So, to have another forest from another region all together having the same format is pretty jarring and not well thought out.

That's like saying the reference to Zelda 1 in Zelda 2, Oracle of Seasons recycling some content from Zelda 1 because it literally started development as a remake of that, or the reference to OoT's castle town in BotW/TotK is the same thing as whatever the hell Link Between Worlds or TotK do in the map recycling department. One is a cute little reference off on the side in a completely optional DLC. The other is lazy wholesale map re-use with only marginal changes, and XY's example is the worst example since it changes so little functionally.

I think maybe it's a hint that the Nature Preserve was the precursor to the Terarium. Maybe it's a hint that the Unova game we'll get will genuinely be an alternate even further in the future version of Unova. Dare I say BW3 (but not named that)

Here's my take: We were told that the Marine Tube in Unova was built aboveground and lowered into the water. I think the same think happened with the Blueberry Academy, with the Nature Preserve being the precursor to it. So yes, it's the same place, but the place is not IN the same place.

I'm pretty sure disturbing a Nature Preserve like that defeats the point of a Nature Preserve. Then again, so does going there to capture Pokémon.
Speaking of, do we ever learn where the Pokémon in the Terarium come from and how they are replenished? It's an artificial enclosed space after all. Is there a massive breeding facility hidden underneath or is the staff constantly restocking with wild Pokémon they capture elsewhere?
