>>55152129>The Rune in ReturnThe writing, in particular the characters' body language during conversations, is good. Excellent scene-setting. The take on mystery dungeons and their wild occupants is one I enjoy. Fight scenes can feel loose sometimes, but that's a consequence of having such a large number of bodies in a fight and spreading the focus too thin.
I'm disappointed to hear best girl Stone won't be joining the main party, but interested to see more of her interactions with Magnus.
>WaterloggedGreat voicework, and a clever approach to elegantly focus on only the important details of the story. I enjoy seeing the interesting formats cge has written here and in Another Gone By. I'm hoping his other works are as engaging.
>Lonesome No MoreThere's good ideas, and a novel premise. I like that the main character comes across as worldly, but not hypercompetent so far. Enough successes to seem capable, enough failures and losses to stay grounded, enough virtues to root for, enough flaws and negative internal thoughts to add some spice.
I'd mentioned it in a previous thread, but from what I've read so far the body language and scene-play during conversations can be lacking. The characters can feel a little too much like humans in a skin suit. The standard humanoid arm-wrestling with non-human bodies comes to mind as a bit of a clumsy scene, I just couldn't stop picturing how silly it would look. Writing non-human perspectives is difficult though, non-human societies and alien customs even moreso, so it's understandable.
The world feels strange, like it doesn't quite sit right somehow, like there's too much left vague or unclear. But it drops the reader in raw, and I don't know much how much I'll find out by the end.
Overall, I'm hooked enough to continue reading more between updates of The Rune in Return, and I'm interested to see the writer develop.
