Ice is not the worst type after the several buffs it got
Now it's simply the worst designed type
>the massive disparity between the offensive and defensive profile makes most designs that aren't "fast all-out attacker" useless
>also makes Ice-type coverage overly strong since those Pokemon don't have to deal with the defensive downsides
>has to essentially cheat by halving all damage with Aurora Veil and that strat still doesn't work without a fast Snow Warning pokemon (Alolan Ninetales is kinda carrying the entire type)
>almost all good moves just have a random 10% chance to screw the target with the worst designed status condition, Freeze
>Freeze duration is completely random, adding variance on top of variance
>Since the chance is so low, any playing around Freeze is not generally worth it and will only be done incidentally when playing around other, more relevant things
>Snow is better than Hail but is still by far the least interesting weather since it only benefits Ice-types while every other weather benefits at least 2 types, leading to boring, monotone teams
>has literally 2 types of status moves: "reset stats" and "set snow/take advantage of snow"
>Ice pokemon are delegated to the "ice area", usually like 80+% through the game and thus are rarely even considered for an in-game playthrough
