no that's definitely Iris and Dawn. Unova was constantly having battle tournaments, some of which Iris beat Ash and Dawn incorporated a lot of Ash's strategies into her contest performances

The problem was needing to shill the game NPC rival as a sidekick. Had she been off on her own travels and appeared occasionally as a battle rival or whatever, people would care. As it stands, the only ones who do were kids who had their first wet dream to her. Lana was fucking better, because she wasn't an airhead coordinator.
